Frequently Asked Questions
Why am I graduating at St John’s Church?
Built in 1824 to serve Waterloo’s working communities, the church has a rich history of resilience, having been bombed during the Second World War before being restored as the Church of the Festival of Britain in 1951 often looked at as a symbol of hope and renewal. Today, it continues to serve its local community in the heart of London.
More recently, St John’s underwent a major £5.5 million restoration led by award-winning architects Eric Parry Architects, reopening in October 2022. The renovation carefully preserved its historic character while creating an enhanced, accessible space for performances, events and community activities. With its blend of history, creativity and community spirit, we felt it was a fitting place to celebrate this important milestone in your LCCM journey.
We wanted a venue with its own story, character and sense of purpose to mark this important milestone in your LCCM journey, bringing our graduates, their families and our community together to celebrate everything you’ve achieved.
