LCCM

Yes. Collaboration is a big part of studying at LCCM, with opportunities to work alongside students with different musical skills and interests. Across our music degrees in the UK, students develop experience working with other performers, producers, songwriters and music business students through practical projects and the wider creative community at the Music Box. 

Your interview is a friendly, informal conversation lasting around 30 minutes, but what you need to prepare depends on the music degree you’re applying for. Some courses ask for live performances or examples of your music, while Music Business Management doesn’t require a portfolio. We’ll let you know what to prepare before your interview.  

LCCM provides facilities and resources to support your studies, although what you need personally will depend on your music course. At the Music Box, you’ll have access to recording studios, rehearsal and performance spaces, practice rooms and production facilities. For some courses, having your own laptop or instrument may be useful, but specific equipment requirements can vary. 

It may be possible to switch to another LCCM programme after you’ve started, but this will depend on the courses involved, your progress and whether the change is academically suitable. If you decide another pathway at our music college in London is a better fit, speak to your course team so they can discuss the options available to you. 

International students can get support with the application process and preparing to study at LCCM. Our music college courses are taught in English, so you’ll need to demonstrate the required level of English for your chosen programme. Requirements vary by level of study, and our team can also guide you through the information you need when applying from overseas.  

Yes. LCCM’s Careers team supports both students and alumni as they build their careers after completing their music degree in London. Support includes one-to-one careers advice, CV and job application guidance, interview preparation and access to relevant opportunities, alongside industry talks, masterclasses and professional connections that can help you take your next steps.  

Yes. Taking a break from education doesn’t prevent you from applying to LCCM. We welcome students from different educational and professional backgrounds, and relevant experience may also be considered for some courses. If you’re unsure which level or course is right for you, our team can help you find the most suitable route back into studying music. 

Yes. You can visit LCCM before applying by coming to an Open Day or arranging a personal visit. You’ll be able to explore the Music Box, see facilities such as studios and rehearsal spaces and speak to our team about studying at a London music university. In-person, online and phone appointments with an advisor are also available.  

Yes. The Foundation Year is specifically designed to prepare you to progress into Level 4 of your chosen undergraduate degree. If you start with a CertHE, you may also be able to continue your studies towards the related full degree. These Music Courses UK pathways give you different entry points depending on your experience and how you want to progress.
