Andres Castellanos – Academic Registrar

Andrés is living proof that life in music and life in higher education don’t have to be two separate things. A Colombian-born bassist, composer, and producer based in London, he’s spent over two decades gigging, recording, and touring across the UK, Europe, and South America. From Rock al Parque in Bogotá in front of 50,000 people to the Queen Elizabeth Hall and from the renowned festivals to the Houses of Parliament. He’s currently the bass player with London indie-jazz outfit Kinkajous

His connection to LCCM runs deep. He’s an alumnus himself, holding a BMus in Music Performance & Production (2013) from the college, alongside a Jazz Performance degree from his native Colombia. Andres also holds and a MA in Music Education from UCL’s Institute of Education and Postgraduate certificate in higher Education, Administration, Leadership and Management from ULaw. Since then, he’s grown with the institution across a range of roles, building an intimate understanding of what makes LCCM tick from the inside out.

Now a senior manager with years of experience at LCCM, Andrés sits at the heart of the institution and the student journey as Academic Registrar. He oversees the academic regulations, student records, registry services, systems, and quality frameworks that keep the college running with integrity and care ensuring the LCCM experience is as smooth as possible for every student. His leadership is built around a clear sense of purpose: his team starts with why  which is to give every student the experience of their lifetime. That purpose shapes how they work, embedding a culture of care from the inside out, and drives what they do day-to-day: making every step of the student lifecycle, from enrolment to graduation, as seamless as it can be.
