LCCM student band Lost in Town make live radio debut

LCCM students are continuing to push their music beyond the classroom. One of the latest is Lost in Town, a band featuring current students, who were recently invited onto Hoxton Radio for a live session.

This marked the first time the band had been on air, so we caught up with them to hear all about the experience.

“It was really meaningful, especially because it was our very first radio appearance,” said frontman and current LCCM student Federico Parisi. “It felt exciting but also very natural once we got there.”

Alongside the interview, the band also performed all five tracks from their upcoming EP, Move to Mars.

“We had the chance to talk about the EP and play all five songs live, which made it even more special. For us, it wasn’t just an interview, but a real milestone for the band’s journey.”

Lost in Town started out as a solo project, before gradually growing into the five-piece band it is today. Their sound draws on 90s alternative rock with a touch of 70s influence, shaping what they describe as a more immersive, textured sonic experience.

“I came from Italy with this project already in mind,” Federico said. “At the beginning, it was just me, my songs, and a bag full of dreams.”

After moving to London, he met bass player Franky, and the band officially formed in 2018.

“Over the years I kept on writing, performing, and looking for the right people to build the band with,” he said. “We’ve gone through multiple different line-ups until we reached our current formation.”

Right now, three of the five band members are studying at LCCM – Federico Parisi (vocals), Oliver Wetherill (drums) and Alessandro Di Pasquale (keys), who are all in their third year of the Music Performance & Production course.

“Our experience at LCCM has definitely been an important part of this phase of the band’s development, that’s for sure.”

The opportunity with Hoxton Radio came through a Battle of the Bands competition.

“They contacted us about taking part, and Michael Barnes, the presenter, listened to our EP and really liked it. He asked if he could play it on air, and later he invited us to come onto his morning show.”

That led to an invite to the station, where Lost in Town were able to perform and talk through the project live on the air.

At the centre of it all is songwriting, something that’s shaped the project from the start.

“The journey started with songwriting,” he said. “I wrote many songs in Italian as well as in English.”

“At some point I decided I wanted to seriously start releasing music and shaping the project into something real.”

Now, that’s grown into a sound built on “honesty, strong melodies, and dynamic contrast”, with Move to Mars marking the next step.

“The journey has really been about turning personal songs into a full band identity.”
