Trudy Kerr is a highly respected vocalist with a career spanning more than forty years. Originally from Australia, she has performed internationally across the Far East, Europe, and the UK, with appearances at major venues and festivals such as Ronnie Scott’s and the Glastonbury Jazz Stage. With over a dozen critically acclaimed albums, Trudy has collaborated with leading artists including Mulgrew Miller, Jan Lundgren, Jamie Cullum, and Georgie Fame. She has also sung at the Queen’s Birthday Celebrations, performed backing vocals for Kylie Minogue, co-hosted the jazz hour on BBC Southern Counties Radio, and runs her own record label, Jazzizit Records.
Alongside her performance career, Trudy brings more than 30 years of experience in higher education as a vocal coach and mentor. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and holds an MA in Music Education from Trinity Laban, as well as a PGCert in Jazz and Studio Music from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Passionate about voice science and contemporary vocal pedagogy, she continues to engage with current research and is an active member of the British Voice Association.
At LCCM, Trudy is committed to creating an open, supportive, and inspiring learning environment. Her teaching focuses on helping students develop strong technical foundations, confidence, and a clear artistic identity. She believes in working collaboratively with students, valuing their experiences and aspirations, and guiding them to become expressive performers and thoughtful, creative musicians ready to make their mark in the industry.
